The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Public Health Program promotes health and wellness within the Community by focusing on the ten essential public health services. Examples of the services Public Health provides include vaccinations, Nutritional Programs for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Environmental Health, Injury Prevention, Diabetes Prevention Services, and COVID-19 related services.

Public Health Services

Vaccinations including COVID-19 and flu are currently offered at the River People Health Center, Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Appointments can be made by calling 480-362-2603. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Upon receiving a vaccine, a nurse will update your Arizona state immunization record. To view your record, you can sign up and use My IR at https://myirmobile.com.

The SRPMIC Environmental Health Program performs and offers a variety of services to help protect the Community including permitting and regulatory inspections of qualifying food service providers, temporary food permits for special events, pet vaccinations, and public and semi-public swimming pool inspections.

WIC is a nutrition program that helps families feed their children healthy foods. WIC provides nutrition information, food benefits, and help with community resources like health care and family care. The program is available to families with pregnant women, new mothers, and children under the age of five.

The SRPMIC Injury Prevention Program was established to provide data-driven and evidence-based interventions within the Community that target intentional and unintentional injury concern areas. Their goal is to raise the health status and decrease injuries for the Community through evidence-based intervention programming, data-driven evaluation, transparent communication with Community members, collaboration with SRPMIC programs, and promoting spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically healthy lifestyles.

Diabetes Prevention Services is a long standing program within the SRPMIC, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent or delay chronic disease, or reduce or delay complications from chronic disease. The program does this by providing a wide array of educational services that focus on nutrition, health, and fitness for all ages.
